Play date!!

Abby had her buddy Liam come over for a play date yesterday. The mommies and babies went swimming first and then the babies hung out in the grass. Aren't they adorable??

Our good girl

Mommy had emergency gall bladder surgery last week so she's been laying low. Abby has been such a good girl! She is patient and calm when it takes us a while to get her. We are so blessed to have a happy go lucky kid.

And Auntie Mich and Grandma and Grandpa B have been a huge help. Yeah for family!

Spring has FINALLY sprung!

After typical New England weather, it seems like today, spring has finally come! Abby is celebrating with the new sunglasses Auntie got her, and some congestion. She's happy none the less though. She is learning to be a hardy New Englander like her folks.

Happy Spring!

Hot day in CT

It was finally warm in Connecticut today after a cold and long winter. We went from putting fleece pants on Abby to a sunsuit. But she looks as adorable in the summer fashions as she did in the winter couture! And Abby LOVES having her toes out of her socks. She was wiggling those piggies!

First Home Game!

Abby had her Pedrioa shirt on yesterday for the first Sox home game. Grandma made sure it was clean and ready. I think this shirt is good luck, they win when she has it on!

In other news, Abby had her six month check up yesterday. She is 18 pounds 15 ounces and 26 inches long. And she is meeting or exceeding all of her milestones! She is banging and shaking toys and knows her name - all 9-month milestones. She is a smartie pants! She also picked up a puff and got it in her mouth for the first time on Sunday! Yeah Abby! I am so proud!

She got three shots yesterday. She only cried for about 30 seconds and Laura, the PA gave her a new book with kitties on it. It of course went right in her mouth. She still only has two teeth. We'll have to wait and see when the next ones pop out!

Duke and his kid

It looks like Duke is warming up to Abby, too. He watched over her today while she had tummy time. And by tummy time I mean the game of Mommy flipping her over back onto her tummy after she continued to roll back over.

And then my little girl became aa traveler. I turned around and found she had scooted herself off her blanket and onto the floor. I am in trouble!!

So far she isn't interested in crawling but who knows what she'll shock us with next!

Murphy and his kid

Murphy has liked Abby since the day she came home. We can usually find him near his girl. I think it's sweet. And Duke is coming around!

Opening Day!

The Easter Bunny at Grandma's brought this to Abby. She wore it for the game and looks awfully cute! Auntie has to find her a pink Red Sox hat to go with the pink kacket Mommy and Daddy found for her at Once Upon A Child!

Happy Easter!

Here is Miss Abby all decked out in her Easter dress. The bonnet is one that her cousin Amanda wore years ago.

Abby and Moomy went to church while Daddy brought sissy home. Then we came home to rest and then we all joined Grandma and Grandpa B and Auntie at J. Timothy's for dinner. Mmmmm!

Our little bunny!

It's Easter weekend and Abby is anxiously waiting for the bunny. She's decked out in her new Easter headband!

We did it!

Abby and Mommy did the Shamrock Run/Walk (we did the 2 mile walk) on March 23. It was chilly but we bundled up and headed out. I am not going to lie, pushing that stroller up the hills was tough! But I finished in 41 minutes and 20 seconds. It wasn't the best time but it's a start!

Abby snoozed through most of it. We can't wait for the next one!

Our little guppy!

Abby had her firdt swimming lesson today. She did awesome! She even let Mommy dunk her three times! This picture is just after her last dunk!

Spoiled rotten!

Abby fights her afternoon nap and generally ends up napping on my mom when she is there. Guess who she is napping on today? Yup, I am off today so she is snoozing on Mommy. In her defense, I took a fall off our front steps so I am pretty banged up so I have my feet up. I have to chill out today so she is taking advantage of me sitting still for once!

Her Irish eyes are smiling!

Abby is just like Daddy - when she smiles her entire face lights up! I love this about both of them. And it lights up the room when either of them smile!

Today Abby is sporting a shamrock outfit that may be having its last public appearance since it's a size 3 months and our little "maple-flavored potato" as Daddy calls her, is already 5 months old!!! Where has the time gone?

Abby, slow down! Mommy can't keep up!

In other news, we will be transitioning from sleeping in the rock and play to her crib next week while Mommy takes a few days off. Ack! But a fellow mommy, who has 4 kids, assures me that Abby will be fine!

Tired girl

We went to the museum today to see the King Tut exhibit. I didn't take any pictutes, but here is one of Abby afterwards. She was such a good girl. She liked the gold in the exhibit but the turtle exhibit delighted her! She was laughing at them swimming around!

Hanging out!

Abby was being a silly girl before bed last night. It was good to see her in better spirits after a rough week. She cut her second tooth!

Monkey in the mirror!

Abby had a doctor's visit today to check for an ear infection. No ear infection, the fussiness is all teething!

While we were waiting, she had time to "admire the pretty baby" in the mirror. She also rolled from her front to her back, four times. She only seems to do this on the exam table!

But she is healthy! We saw the PA but her pediatrician also came in to see her. We love how personable everyone in the office is. The PA had a baby a month before Abby so it's nice to have her perspective. And she cleared me to make any kinds of veggies for Abby, even chick peas! Mommy has some cooking to do!

So far Abby has had avocado, sweet potatoes, peas, and this week we are trying carrots. She isn't so keen on the carrots, but we're trying!

I will try green beans and butternut and acorn squash next. Then mayve asparagus and edamane! We'll let her try some fruit after that. She is a great eater. She especially likes to do it while we are out. She will sit in a booster with blankets behind her and eat while Mommy and Daddy do. It's so cute!

Sweet potatoes!!!

Abby started solids last week and is loving it! She has tried oatmeal, avocado, sweet potatoes, peas and today she tried carrots. So far so good!

Oh, and last week she got her first tooth! Ack!

Tummy time!

Abby isn't a big fan of it but she's a trooper. We are doing it on the couch today. This means there is a big pile of drool on it. Oh well!

Why aren't my hands free?

Abby got two hand knitted pairs of mittens from Grandma and she's not sure about them. She manages to wiggle out of them or get them wet because her hands are constantly in her mouth.

She's never really liked her hands constricted. Even in the hospital, when the nurse had tightly swaddled her, she got her little arm out of her pajama sleeve and up through the neck so it was free. This reminds me a lot of her Grandpere. When he was in a coma, at Yale New Haven in June 2006, all he wanted was his hands free. When we went to visit him, we'd untie him so he could put his hands up. (He had to be restrained so he wouldn't yank out his feeding tube.)

Even when she is sleeping, she is in a Halo sack that has the arms free. We got a swaddle me blanket but we never used it because she likes her arms free. She likes to sleep with her arms above her head sometimes. So she is in a fleece sack and covered to her waist. She's happy and snug as a pug in a rug.

Abby slept through the night!

After a week of 3:30 am wake up calls Abby slept until 6 am this morning! At 4 am I looked down at her and she was fast asleep. I think all the exersaucer action at Grandma's tired her out.

Of course now she is wide awake. I'm guessing her usual morning nap is not going to happen. But she is in her swing and just babbling as I work so all is ok.

Oh, and today Abby is officially three months old! Yeah Abby!

New toy!

Grandma B bought Abby an exersaucer at her house. Abby wasn't sure at first but she soon realized how nice it was to sit up and grab at her toys, including of course, her glow worm.

Mommy will add one to our house soon. But this means the bouncy chair may go into storage. But Abby has sort of outgrown it and the only one in the house who uses it right now is Hippie the cat. I'm sure Hippie will miss her bed.

Abby's new friends

Abby received two of these for Christmas, a pink one from Auntie Christy and a blue one from Grandma B. It is one of her favorite toys. It lights up and plays lullabies. She is mesmerized by it. Apparently is comes in handy during snack time, too.

Good Morning!

She is pretty happy for waking up at 3 am. Yes, 3 am!! Of course she has had two naps since. Mommy slept for a few before the alarm demanded she get up and face the work day. Sigh.  .  . She is fortunate that I love her to pieces. I'm not sure I'd even get up for Jeff that early!!!

Please make note that the pugs slept through it all, thank goodness. We wouldn't want to disturb their beauty sleep!

Snuggling

Sometimes all you need is a snuggle. I love our girl.

Happy New Year from the Lowds!

Despite some razzing from people, I did NOT stay up until midnight. Abby went down about 11 last night and so did Mommy! Jeff did come tp bed at 11:59 to kiss me though. Going to bed early was a good thing since Abby was up at 3:30 to eat.

She and Daddy are now sleeping and I am sipping my pumpkin coffee ans snuggling with the pugs on the couch. Not a bad way to start 2013.

As for resolutions, which I am not a fan of, I plan to write more (I have one writing gig already line up), and hopefully embroider and crochet more. I have been a slacker on all those fronts lately, but then again, Abby does keep me busy!

Happy 2013 all. I'm sure I will post a picture of my Abby later!
